The Marvelous Wonderettes

Kendall has been wanting to see a musical. Since we were in Times Square and it was almost 8pm we walked over to the TKTS to see what tickets were left. We ended up getting tickets to the Marvelous Wonderettes. The musical is about four girls who sing 50's and 60's songs. Half way through they musical you vote for prom queen. I was not thrilled about listening to fifties and sixties music for two hours but Kendall really wanted to go and it ended up being pretting cute. She reaaly enjoyed it and asked if she could watch it again. Afterward we were able to walk through Times Square and see the lights. Kendall thought this was neat. We have not been at Times Square this late.

Hershey's Store

Kendall wanted to go to the Hershey's store. As we walked into the store they were handing out Hershey's kisses. The kids are given hats and are able to turn the wheel of a machine that brings down candy and fills up a bucket.

Step Up 3D

We stopped in Grand Central Station to use the restroom and noticed they were filming a movie. Kendall wanted to stay and watch a while. They were filming Step Up 3D. We didn't recognize any anyone but Kendall enjoyed watching for a while.

East Side Street Fair

Kendall and I went to the East Side street fair today. Along the way we stopped at Daffy's and Kendall found a fleece jacket on sale. She decided she wanted to wear her new jacket out in the 82 degree weather. It didn't bother her too much.

Rodale Publishing

Kendall got the Job for Rodale Publishing. She will do the photo shoot on Monday in Montclair, NJ. They said she needed to know how to jump rope. I laughed since she wanted a jump rope when Tom was here last and he bought her one. Tom and I (yeah, Tom was jump roping with his bad knee) were showing her how to jump rope and she has been jumping rope in the apartment since.

Robert Moses Beach,Long Island

We took the train to Long Island today to go to the beach. We went to Robert Moses Beach on Fire Island. We have heard this a great beach. We got a late start and didn't get on the train until 1:40pm. The train ride was an hour and fifteen minutes. We then waited thirty minutes for the bus to come which took fifteen minutes to arrive at Robert Moses Beach. By then it was ten til four. We decided to stay for one hour since there was only two buses back to the train(one at 500 and one at 630). THe beach was beautiful and it felt good to be at the ocean. I decided not to change into my bathing suit and when I walked out into the water with Kendall a huge wave came up behind us coming up to my chest soaking me. We had fun playing in the water making sand castles.

Haven't been out for a few days

We went to the city today. We haven't been out since Monday! It has been quiet. The agency hasn't called this week. It has been slow since Kendall will be going home soon and won't be here and available much longer to do any jobs. We are just waiting for the jobs she is on hold for. I am getting anxious to get home to see everyone. We went to the American Girl Store today. Kendall has been waiting for them to get in the "Feel Better" kit for her doll. She has been waiting for it to come in since we got here. I think she likes it because it has a knee brace and foot brace. It also comes with crutches. When we first arrived and she saw this her dad had just had surgery and had a brace and crutches. I can't believe the things they have for these dolls!!

Today we stayed in most of the day. We wanted to go to the beach but didn't get around early enough to go. We did get to talk with Josh and mom, dad, Ben and Gabe on the web cam today. It was good to see everyone. Josh looks great and had his uniform on.

a couple of pictures before the go see

Madison Avenue/Upper East Side

This afternoon Kendall had a go see for an Italian magazine. We waited a while in a crowded room of children running around screaming until she was finally called back. There were about four or five people who were sitting in the room when we walked in. They were just sitting looking at Kendall not saying much. It was like being on a reality show like American Idol or something with judges looking at you until one of them said "here eyes, look at her eyes" and another one said "yeah I like her" and then "thank you for coming". It was a little strange and took a only a few seconds after waiting 30-40 minutes. The go see was on the sixth floor of a bookstore. Kendall wanted to go down and read some books. We stayed a while reading and when we went to leave we ran into Diane Keaten walking out the bookstore the same time as us. She was standing in front of us as we left the store and we walked down the street side by side as she got in her car that was waiting for her. I thought about taking out my phone to take a picture or asking her for an autograph but I didn't. Kendall and I had fun walking up Madison Avenue in the Upper East Side. It is a nice, quieter area. We stopped at a diner for Kendall to have a bowl of cereal for an afternoon snack. The agency called to tell us Kendall is on hold for Rodale Publishing (a healthcare advertisement) and has a go see with them next Monday. They also said Company Kids has called again for Kendall and placed her on hold for next Tuesday.

Carlos Bake Shop

Mom called me a couple days ago to tell me about Carlos Bake Shop, in Hoboken, and on TLC on Monday nights. I told her I had been there before and I walk by there everyday on the way to the path station. I didn't know they were on a television show. Kendall and I went back in tonight. She wanted cheesecake of course, but they had no cheesecake by the slice. She settled for a big chocolate chip M&M cookie.

dinner in Hoboken

Economy Candy

Since we were by the agency Kendall wanted to stop by to see Patti. She loves Patti!! While there Patti told us about a great candy store, Economy Candy, in the Lower East Side and gave us directions. When we arrived it was wall to wall candy. Kendall was loading up the basket with candy for everyone(christian, liz, and some she said that was for her and Isabel to play candy store with when she returned home). SHe wanted to get some jelly beans for the girls at the agency since they said they were thier favorite. We stopped back by to drop them off and she showed them all her candy and the "sour cry baby's" she got for her brother, she can't wait to see his reaction when he eats them.

a quick pose before the gosee

This morning we went to the gosee for Proctor and Gamble. When we arrived and filled out the paperwork they asked what talents or special interests Kendall had. I wrote down that she liked dancing, singing and cheerleading and tumbling. When it was her turn they took her back behind a curtain. I could hear a lady with a high pitched funny voice talking silly to her. I heard her ask Kendall about the cheerleading and asked her to do a cheer. I could hear her from behind the curtain chanting the TCA cheer. I was cracking up. Then she asked her if she could do a cartwheel, something she loves to do and then she asked her do dance. Kendall said she had fun at this one and I heard them thank her and tell her she did a great job.

Working on the Blog

Today I have spent most of the day updating the blog. I was really behind and it has taken me all afternoon to catch up. Kendall doesn't mind staying in every once in a while after running around the city everyday. I am amazed at how much there is to do. You never get bored or run out of things to do. Just walking around the city you see our find some to do. The agency told us today that Kendall was released for the Earnshaw magazine. She has a go see tomorrow for the Proctor and Gamble casting. I am assuming this means it is for a commercial? I guess we'll find out.

Cheesecake

Kendall wanted cheesecake after dinner. It was $10 at the Brooklyn diner so we decided to walk around and get cheesecake elsewhere. We walked through Times Square and stopped at a cafe. I think she is addicted to cheesecake.

Kendall outside the Late Show

Kendall says she wants to go to the Late Show some night. When I told here how late it is on she said thats ok because "I stay up late, I'm a night owl, please can we go sometime."

A City Girl

The agency called today to see if we would be available tomorrow. They said Earnshaw Magazine wanted to use Kendall for a shoot on Fire Island. I would love to go there. They said they would call back later when they found out more details.

Brooklyn Diner

Kendall and I went into the city late this afternoon. We wanted to stop by the agency to drop off one of her vouchers from the last Company Kids job. We walked around the city a while and decided to take the subway to Columbus Circle and walk around the mall there. There wasn't much there...Columbus Circle is an upscale mall. My feet were hurting from wearing my rain boots(it was raining when we left then sunny in the city) so I did find some flip flops for $5 at JCrew. Kendall was getting hungry so we decided to eat at ther Brooklyn Diner.

Tom returns home today

Today Tom is going back home. It is hard saying good bye to him. We originally planned to come home this weekend but Kendall is now on hold for Target and we have decided to stay a little longer. The agency called this morning before Tom left and said that Proctor and Gamble wants to place Kendall on hold for July 22-24th. We were going to leave on the 22nd to meet Tom and the kids in Indianapolis and head to French Lick. I discussed this with the agency and they said it was our decision but they wanted us to know how much the job was for. Tom and I discussed it and decided Kendall would stay for this last job but we are definately leaving on the 24th and shared this with the agency. They also asked for Kendall to go for a go see today for a denim company called 3 Pearls. We went to the go soo and they said they liked Kendall and would definately be calling here and using her....we'll see what happens.

walking around the city

After the beach we take the train back to Manhatten and go to church at St. Patrick's Cathedral. After church we walk around the city a while and find a street fair that we walk through before heading back to Hoboken.

Long Beach

We have been wanting to go to the beach so today we are taking the train to Long Beach on Long Island. It's only one hour from Penn Station in Manhatten. The weather today is perfect, upper 70's and a little breazy. It feels good to lay in the sun and see the water. Kendall splashes in the water a little with her dad and enjoys a walk with him to find sea shells. She makes friends with a little boy who sounds like he may be from Australia and has fun digging in the sand and playing frisbee with him.

The fireworks

It was hard to get any good pictures of the fireworks but we enjoyed watching them. The park was crowded as expected but well secured. There we low flying helicopters circling the park and planes in the sky encircling the Hudson River to watch over. It was well organized and it was amazing as we walked back to the apartment to look back behind us down the street and see all the people. I have never seen so many people in one place at a time. Tom had out the video recorder to record all the people.
